Glitz

I'm 53 years old, and I've never gone out to a big fancy party on New Year's Eve. I've been to plenty of low key ones--I've even hosted a few of those--but never one where you dress up in something with some glitz on it and go out for dinner and dancing. I usually save the last night of the year to do something super exciting, like in 1994, when I spent the evening recovering the seats of my dining room chairs and then crawling into bed by 11. Wild!

This year, I have plans that involve dinner and potential dancing. Oh yeah, they involve a wedding, too. One of my former students is getting married, and she's invited me and my friend, John (another of her former professors). I'd thought I'd just wear some dress I teach in, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought, no, this may be your last chance to be all fancy on New Year's Eve. So, tonight, I bought a great red dress and some glitzy jewelry to go with it. I need to get a pair of shoes--my orthopedic teaching heels simply won't work. I'm looking forward to my night out. This is the first of something like four student weddings I'll be going to this coming year. Think I can wear the red dress to all of them?
