Cindy and I wandered through a fabulous farmers market two block from their house. Even in early November, the place was hopping. Vendors still had plenty of fall veggies: winter squash, turnips, kale, and other greens. A couple of restaurants were selling lunch, and there were a few arts and crafts types selling things like wooden toys and homemade soap. We were in search of picnic food. That's right. It was 70 plus degrees yesterday, so we did something I'd never done before: we had a November picnic.
We scrapped the market and went to a deli for some carry out, and then we headed to a park to eat and talk and hang around in the sun. This was the view from our blanket.
After lunch, we stretched out for awhile and enjoyed what's likely to be the last picnic either of us will have this birthday month.
There was still plenty of fall color in Kentucky. In Cincy, the trees are nearly bare thanks to the tail end of Hurricane Sandy. Here's the gorgeous Sycamore that towered over us.
After lunch, we drove to a street market and poked around, then we had a little frozen yogurt before calling it a day. So it turns out that November picnics are pretty great. If we get another warm spell, set out for a park!
