Book Deal

New thing for November? A book deal, thank you very much! My friend, Robin, and I have been waiting for months to hear back about a proposal for a faculty development book we sent to the publisher, and on Sunday night, the email arrived. We have a deal. People seem pretty underwhelmed by this news, but we're excited. Let me just say that if you have writers in your life, and those writers get a book deal, make a teeny tiny fuss about it. Just an enthusiastic "YAY!" is about right.

Also on the professional front, I presented at a conference in Louisville today with four colleagues, and we packed the room. Our session included findings from two studies on study abroad pre-trip activities. The conference hotel was the Seelbach Hilton. The hotel website says that the place was built in 1905 its "grand ambiance inspiring author F. Scott Fitzgerald to use The Seelbach as a backdrop for Tom and Daisy Buchanan's wedding in The Great Gatsby.". Delightful. Here are some photos of my research group and the Seelbach.
